A stunning oceanfront hotel, this charming resort on Ambergris Caye offers the perfect mix of relaxation and fun. With a unique location, endless activities and tours on offer, beautiful grounds, and a focus on community-driven, eco-conscious hospitality, you could easily spend your whole vacation within the resort. We had the pleasure of staying with Belizean Shores Resort while we were in Belize and have compiled everything you need to know before you go into this honest review.

Belizean Shores Resort is a beautiful seafront hotel complex of comfortable and spacious condo suites, with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea and easy access to the beach.

Belizean Shores Resort is part of Sandy Point Resorts, a group of award-winning resorts known for providing high-quality, à la carte vacation packages. Sandy Point Resorts operates several properties in Ambergris Caye, Belize, each offering unique accommodations and experiences. The brand has a strong commitment to sustainable tourism and local culture, offering guests an authentic Belizean experience while minimising environmental impact.

With secluded rooms and scenic verandas, the hotel is also perfect for couples seeking a romantic getaway. The resort is also family-friendly, with plenty to keep everyone entertained, from little ones to adults. Groups will love the communal feel of the resort’s central amenities while still maintaining individual privacy.

Where is Belizean Shores Resort?

Belizean Shores Resort is located on Ambergris Caye – the largest island in Belize – approximately 3.5 miles north of San Pedro Town.

The hotel is situated right on the beachfront, offering a tranquil atmosphere with easy access to water sports and ocean-based activities. The vibrant town is easily accessible via golf cart, bicycle, or taxi.

Belizean Shores Resort Rooms

Belizean Shores Resort features 48 spacious suites spread across 12 buildings, each designed with bright, tropical-inspired décor. We particularly love the pops of colour and local artworks that decorate the suites.

The suites range from accessible lower level rooms to upper level rooms, some with garden or pool views and others with views of the Caribbean Sea. We had the pleasure of staying in a lower level sea view suite and loved every second of soaking up the view from our outdoor table.

All suites include a separate master bedroom, ensuite bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, dining and living areas, and a private terrace.

Room amenities

Amenities such as central air conditioning, ceiling fans, cable TV, fast WiFi, an iron and ironing board, and housekeeping are designed to ensure you have a comfortable stay.

Plenty of wardrobe space, drawers, and hangers in the bedroom mean you can spread out comfortably, while a safe keeps your valuables secure and gives you peace of mind.

The large bed is super comfortable with plenty of cushions and pillows. The curtains block out the light well while the lamps on the bedside tables add a cosy element to the room at night.

The living area has a large table, which we found was placed perfectly by plug sockets so we could do some work. It also contains comfortable seats and a settee, TV, and board games.

Bathrooms are equipped with soft towels and face cloths, toiletries, soap, and a hair dryer. Guests are also provided with a beach towel. The walk-in shower contained all the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash we needed in refillable bottles and there was always hot water.

Kitchen amenities

On arrival, you’ll notice the large dispenser of unlimited purified drinking water. The kitchen also features a coffee maker with a bag of locally sourced coffee grounds.

The kitchen is well equipped so you can easily prepare anything you fancy, which is super handy if you’re on a budget. It contains an oven and hobs, large fridge/freezer, microwave, pots, pans, utensils, plates, bowls, cups, and sink with washing up facilities.

Dan rustled up some delicious homemade nachos one evening during our stay. Self-catering is a great way to save money when you travel, so you have more left over for epic experiences. The hotel can assist with provisioning your room with groceries in advance of your arrival too. But it’s worth checking out the extensive menu on offer too.

Belizean Shores Resort Facilities

Belizean Shores Resort is designed with comfort, relaxation, and adventure in mind. The resort centres around the beautiful pool area, with its swim-up bar and internal bar area, built-in jacuzzi, sun loungers, and day beds.

The hotel has its own private beach area, complete with loungers and hammocks.

The reception area has a small gift shop, which is great for picking up a handmade souvenir or if you’ve forgotten a necessity like sunscreen. This is also where you’ll find the concierge desk with its wide variety of tours and activities on offer.

On-site parking is available if you’ve rented a golf cart in town or through the hotel concierge.

Laundry facilities are also available with a quick turn around time.

For special occasions, the hotel can assist with gift baskets, birthday cakes, floral arrangements, private dinners, private boat charters, and even charter flights over the world-famous Blue Hole. We stayed here to celebrate Dan’s 30th birthday and were met with the sweetest birthday message on the bed and a bottle of wine, which was so lovely.

Dining in Belizean Shores Resort

Room delivery and poolside dining is available to Belizean Shores Resort guests and is operated by Cocoblanca Restaurant in the neighboring Coco Beach Resort, a Sandy Point Resorts property. An all-day menu is available daily from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, allowing for flexible dining options all day long.

The menu features an extensive array of gourmet dishes, from international flavours to local favourites. We also loved the dedicated veggie/vegan section which had great options.

Guests can enjoy meals and refreshing cocktails at the Pool Bar onsite too.

Over the road, the charming Sol Cafe offers coffee, breakfast, and quick snacks if you fancy venturing out of the hotel. Nearby, the Tipsy Lobster Seafood Grill boasts an irresistible array of lunch and dinner options with great drinks.

Things to do in Belizean Shores Resort

Belizean Shores Resort provides a variety of activities suitable for all ages. Water enthusiasts can explore the nearby Belize Barrier Reef through snorkelling and SCUBA diving excursions. The resort also offers sailing sports, including windsurfing and parasailing.

A range of massage and spa treatments are offered next door in Coco Beach Resort.

For those interested in mainland adventures, guided eco-tours to ancient Mayan temples and lush rainforests can be arranged.

There are plenty of fun things to do without leaving the resort too, including an on-site water trampoline, a full-size playground, a pickleball, tennis and basketball court, as well as the use of kayaks and paddle boards between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Belizean Shores Resort also provides golf cart rentals and bicycle rentals, giving guests an easy and affordable way to explore Ambergris Caye. From here, you can take a trip into San Pedro Town or venture out to Secret Beach on the west coast of the island.

Our experience in Belizean Shores Resort

We had the most beautiful stay at Belizean Shores Resort. We visited to celebrate Dan’s birthday and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate.

The staff were always so friendly and helpful and we really felt part of the family. They made every effort to help us make the most of our stay, from booking a golf cart and tours to making our stay feel extra special.

Unfortunately, our diving excursion was cancelled due to bad weather, but we got to experience the magic of the underwater world just off the coast here on other diving and snorkelling trips and can attest to its beauty.

We were so sad to leave Belizean Shores Resort at the end of our stay. It really is one of those places you know you’ll return to if you ever go back to Belize.

Belizean Shores Resort Rates

The room rates at Belizean Shores Resort can vary depending on several factors, including the type of room, the season, and the duration of your stay. These are the typical costs per night:

  • Pool View – Lower Level Suite – These suites may be priced between $180 to $300 per night.
  • Sea Front/View – Lower Level Suite – Rates typically range from $200 to $350 per night depending on the season.
  • Pool View – Upper Level Suite – Rates are typically between $300 to $450 per night.
  • Sea Front/View – Upper Level Suite – Expect rates in the range of $350 to $500 per night.

High season runs from December to April and prices tend to be higher during this time, especially around holidays like Christmas and New Year. Low season between May and November sees lower prices in the off-peak period, although it’s still a popular time for visitors due to fewer crowds and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Belizean Shores Resort sometimes runs discounts and offers so it’s worth keeping an eye on their website. They also offer a discount for repeat guests, which can be redeemed through them via email.

How to get to Belizean Shores Resort

Most travellers will arrive at Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City. From here, you can take a regional flight to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.

Alternatively, you may choose to take the ferry from Belize City or Caye Caulker. We actually took the ferry from Chetumal in Mexico straight to the port on Ambergris Caye.

Once in San Pedro, guests can reach the resort via land transfer, which can be organized through the resort for a surcharge. We were so grateful for our private, air-conditioned transfer as soon as we arrived, with all our bags.

Golf cart rentals and bicycles are also available to rent through the hotel for exploring the island.

After check out, we hopped in a shared resort shuttle to the dock to pick up our ferry to Caye Caulker. Everything went smoothly and timings were seamless.
